NCSEA is monitoring Hurricane Idalia as it rapidly intensifies in the Gulf of Mexico. Idalia is forecast to intensify into a Category 3 hurricane before making landfall along Florida’s Gulf Coast early tomorrow. The storm is expected to have peak sustained winds between 111 and 129 mph and a storm surge of up to 12 feet. Accordingly, Florida residents should heed any advice given by state and local officials, including the Florida Division of Emergency Management, and should ensure that they have their hurricane plan in place.

As an aid to community disaster response, NCSEA and the International Code Council (ICC) co-sponsor the Disaster Response Alliance (DRA). The DRA is a national database of skilled building professionals who are trained in post-disaster building safety evaluation. These professionals are prepared to volunteer assistance to those communities affected by Hurricane Idalia.
