2025 Structure of the Year
For the first time in program history, two projects have earned the title of Structure of the Year in the 2025 Structural Engineering Excellence (SEE) Awards.
Recognizing the exceptional ingenuity and technical achievement demonstrated by both projects, the judges selected the National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas, by schlaich bergermann partner, and the Millennium Tower Perimeter Pile Upgrade in San Francisco, California, by Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, as this year’s top honorees.

Chosen for its extraordinary structural challenges, this project demonstrates how engineering can elevate design. With its sweeping stair and framing cantilevered from only five columns, it is a striking example of structural artistry and precision.

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger
Selected for the immense creativity required to solve an exceptionally difficult problem, this project delivered an elegant and cost-effective solution under intense public scrutiny—showcasing the ingenuity and perseverance of structural engineers at their best.
2025 SEE Awards Finalists
The 2025 SEE Awards finalists have been chosen for their groundbreaking designs, engineering excellence, and meaningful impact on the built environment. This year, the program grew in both scope and reach, with new categories such as Landmark Structures, Social Impact, and AI in Design highlighting the evolving role of structural engineers. We also broadened eligibility and introduced discounted entry for small firms, encouraging a wider range of voices and greater diversity across submissions.
