2024 Young Member Group Scholarship Recipients

Young Member Group of the Year

Annually, NCSEA presents “Young Member Group of the Year” awards during the NCSEA Structural Engineering Summit. This accolade recognizes exceptional Young Member Groups (YMGs) affiliated with one of the Structural Engineering Associations (SEAs).

The primary focus of this recognition is to acknowledge YMGs that contribute to the advancement of their young members, SEAs and communities. In 2025, in addition to selecting an overall “YMG of the Year”, we will also be recognizing a “Breakout YMG of the Year” and “Best Event/Initiative of the Year.” The purpose of these awards is to honor two additional YMGs that have exemplified NCSEA’s mission and provided quality programming to its members. The “Breakout YMG of the Year” will be awarded to a YMG that has been recently established or revamped from a period of inactivity. The “Best Event/Initiative of the Year” will be awarded to a YMG that hosted an event or initiative that stood out from the rest of the programming throughout the year. Whether this event or initiative provided its members with a uniquely impressive opportunity, or engaged a large proportion of their SEA, we look forward to seeing and sharing what the YMGs across the country have been up to.

YMGs interested in competing for any of these awards will complete the following single application. Based on the responses and pool of applicants, the Younger Member Support Committee will select the best candidates for each award. The three winning YMGs will be notified that they have won an award and invited to attend the Summit. However, they will not know which of the three awards they have won until it is unveiled live at the Summit. The “YMG of the Year” and “Breakout YMG of the Year” winners will each receive $1,000 for their Young Member Group to use for future activities. The winner for “Best Event/Initiative of the Year” will receive $500 to go towards continuing or expanding their event/initiative in the future.

One representative from each of the three winning YMGs will receive complimentary registration to attend the Structural Engineering Summit and a $1,000 travel stipend to use toward transportation and hotel costs. Travel stipends are generously sponsored by Computers & Structures, Inc.
