Speakers:

Michael Lyons, PE, LFA, is the Structural Department Sustainability Lead at Martin/ Martin Consulting Engineers with 14 years of experience in the construction industry specializing in mid-rise concrete and steel buildings. He is motivated to get more structural engineers involved in reducing the embodied carbon of their projects and sees embodied carbon as an exciting opportunity for the industry to develop as a design constraint. Michael is the current co-chair of the ASCE SEI Sustainable Design Committee and an active member of the NCSEA Sustainability Design Committee.

Jessica Martinez, PE, LEED AP,is a Program Manager on Amazon’s Global Realty Sustainability team, where she leverages her structural engineering background to drive embodied carbon reductions across Amazon’s warehouse building portfolio. She serves as the SE 2050 Resources Working Group Leader and Chair of the NCSEA Sustainable Design Committee, collaborating with structural engineers nationwide to share best practices and advance decarbonization across the building industry. Jessica also chairs the Seattle Carbon Leadership Forum Steering Committee, leading regional efforts focused on education, collaboration, and meaningful climate action within the built environment.
