Mastering Deflection Control of Concrete Slabs Using RAM Concept by Bentley – Free STRUCTURE Sponsored Webinar

August 11, 2026 | Tue 12:00 America/Chicago

Duration: 1.0 Hour

$

Project constraints often force structural engineers to push concrete floor thickness and spans to their limits. For these highly optimized, aggressive designs, controlling long-term deflections is a critical design challenge.

Accurate deflection prediction requires engineers to navigate through a complex web of interdependent concrete material properties and environmental factors. Navigating this web is essential for ensuring adequate service performance and mitigating risk but demands rigorous and defensible calculation methods. However, even when using advanced analyses, calculated deflections can only be considered estimates.

This webinar will use a detailed parametric study to demonstrate how RAM Concept’s non-linear, load-history deflection analysis can replace the guesswork in deflection prediction. Whether you design to ACI, Eurocode, or another regional standard, this session will empower you to deliver optimized, high-performing concrete slab designs with confidence.

  • There is no continuing education credit being provided for this webinar.
  • This webinar will be recorded and made available on the STRUCTURE website.

Speakers:

Seth Guthrie, SE, PE, is the Director of Product Management for the Structural Analysis products at Bentley Systems. This includes the RAM, STAAD, and most recently ADINA products. He serves as a committee member for the AISC Seismic Design Manual.

Karl Gullerud, PE, is a Product Manager for Bentley Systems. He is responsible for advancing and supporting RAM Concept. Prior to joining Bentley Systems, he worked as a structural engineering consultant and gained design experience with a wide range of structural systems and software applications. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Wisconsin.
