More than 800 structural engineers from across the country attended the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations’ recent virtual town hall, AI in the Structural Engineering Profession. This event explored how artificial intelligence is transforming structural engineering practice, offering both opportunities and challenges for firms of all sizes.

Hosted by the NCSEA Foundation’s Innovation in Structural Engineering AI Grant Team, the event brought together leading voices in AI integration within the profession. Panelists included:

  • Andrew Sundal, AIA, P.E.
  • Ayush Singhania, P.E.
  • Dave Martin, S.E.
  • Emre Toprak, Ph.D., P.E.
  • John-Michael Wong, Ph.D., S.E.
  • Sheng Zheng, P.E.

Together, the panel led a Q&A session focused on real-world applications of AI in structural engineering. Topics included professional practice, education and training, workflow, and how firms can begin responsibly incorporating AI. Attendees gained insights on how AI is already being used—and what’s ahead.

This event is part of NCSEA’s broader commitment to innovation and to preparing the structural engineering community for the future of the profession.
