Did you know?
While the International Building Code (IBC) does not include explicit special inspection requirements for wood construction or cold formed steel light frame construction, some states have adopted amendments that establish these requirements in their own building codes.
Connecticut is one such example. The Connecticut Building Code adds special inspection provisions for:
• Cold formed steel light frame construction in Section 1705.2.5
• Wood construction in Section 1705.5
These amendments provide inspection requirements beyond those contained in the base IBC and illustrate how states can tailor code provisions to address local priorities.
