In December 2023, Holmes US presented the NCSEA Foundation with a $30,000 donation to establish the Holmes Diversity in Structural Engineering Scholarship. The donation from Holmes US will support two annual $5,000 scholarships for the next three years.
“Holmes is honored to support the NCSEA Foundation and the wider structural engineering industry with these scholarships. At Holmes, we believe that by building opportunities for the next generation, we are not only investing in the success of individuals but also in the advancement and resilience of our industry as a whole. Together, we will shape a future that is just, equitable, and filled with innovative solutions that benefit society at large,” said Alexander Sivyer, Managing Principal at Holmes US.

The NCSEA Diversity in Structural Engineering Scholarship program was established by the NCSEA Foundation in 2021 to award funding to students who have been traditionally underrepresented in structural engineering (including but not limited to Black/African Americans, Native/Indigenous Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, and other people of color, those with disabilities and LGBTQIA+). Multiple scholarships are presented annually to junior college students, undergraduate students, and/or graduate students pursuing degrees in structural engineering. Applications for the Diversity in Structural Engineering scholarships will open on Monday, January 15.
