The NCSEA Foundation’s AI Grant Team has posted a one-page outline of its Strategic Plan for providing clarity and empowerment for the Structural Engineering profession. The Strategic Plan consists of two parts: (1) the AI Roadmap demonstrating where we see the profession today and where we believe it could be in the future, and (2) the AI Implementation Plan describing three major Initiatives to support our future.
AI Roadmap
The team’s vision for the future includes adopting AI tech into our everyday professional activities. It begins on the topic of developing Learning & Strategy with activities such as learning and discovering applicable AI tech, establishing an AI policy and strategy, setting goals for AI investments, identifying client needs, training staff, assessing strategy and establishing what data is valuable to a firm’s business model.
AI Implementation Plan
The AI Education Initiative will support structural engineers in advancing their understanding and use of AI. The AI Tools & Innovation Initiative will provide information about AI tools, policies, and innovations that SEs can use in their work. The AI Partnerships Initiative will pursue strategic relationships advancing the use of AI in the SE profession.
Highlights from the AI Grant Team’s current efforts to be released later this year:
- Developing an example AI policy that firms can use to enable the use of AI tools while balancing the risks associated with new technology.
- Short tutorials that will amplify adoption and understanding of AI platforms and tools.
- Summaries of relevant AI research to keep us informed on future developments.
- Quick start guides to help firms of any size become smart consumers of AI products and platforms.
- Presentations and collaborations within Local SEAs.
