A grant from the NCSEA Foundation enabled the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois (SEAOI) to host a highly successful networking and headshots event. Organized by the Women in Structural Engineering (WiSE) group, the event aimed to provide affordable professional headshots and valuable networking opportunities.

“Our WiSE group wanted to be able to offer people the chance to have quality headshots taken, without costs being a barrier. Many companies will have headshots taken periodically, but if you work for a smaller firm, or are just starting your career, it can be cost-prohibitive,” said Stephanie Crain, Executive Director of SEAOI. “With the grant money, we were able to offer the event at a low price, as well as accommodate anyone who wanted a headshot but couldn’t afford the fee.”

The event saw 20 people receive professional headshots, with another 15 attending for networking and socializing.

This event highlights the importance of grants in supporting local SEAs. If your SEA has an initiative that could benefit from similar support, remember that the deadline to apply for the SEA Grant Program is Sept. 13.
