Building on a Solid Foundation
The Blueprint isn’t our first strategic plan—it’s the latest. Past plans have guided NCSEA’s efforts for years, shaped by ongoing member surveys, SEA roundtables, and direct conversations about what the profession needs. A few of those past initiatives, put into action, are below.
2015
We heard SEAs needed stronger support.
We renewed our focus on state Structural Engineers Associations as the backbone of the profession’s day-to-day work.

We heard the field wanted a bigger pipeline of talent.
The NCSEA Foundation launched its scholarship program, awarding more than $200,000 in tuition assistance so far.

We heard SEAs wanted to learn from each other.
We introduced Leadership Week for SEA staff and volunteers nationwide, a regular part of our live programming rotation.

We launched our first AI initiatives, which grew into the NCSEA Innovation Council, helping SEs and firms of every size navigate artificial intelligence.
2025
We heard leaders needed space to think strategically.
We launched the NCSEA Executive Retreat, now an annual gathering for firm leaders.
2026
We heard the next generation needed to discover this profession earlier.
The NCSEA Foundation created the Future Builders program, bringing hands-on structural engineering education into K–12 classrooms.
