Special Inspections for Existing Buildings
Speaker: Chris Kimball, S.E., P.E., MCP, CBO
When dealing with existing buildings design professionals are allowed to either show that the building complies with the International Building Code (IBC) or follow the requirements of the International Existing Building Code (IEBC). With regards to special inspections the IEBC simply states that the permit submittal documents should include “special inspection and structural observation programs”. No other discussion is provided in the IEBC in regards to special inspection, material testing or structural observation requirements. The purpose of this seminar is to clarify what these requirements are with regards to existing buildings. To do this we will review the requirements of the IBC in addition to ASCE 41-13 and applicable material standards.
NCSEA offers at least 30 high-quality webinars on a variety of topics each month. Our speakers are experts in their field, and course content is practical, accurate and timely. Each webinar awards 1.0-1.5 hours of continuing education. Most NCSEA webinars, excluding non-technical topics, are Diamond Review-approved in all 50 states. These webinars can be purchased individually or as part of a yearly subscription plan.
