Non-destructive Evaluation of Structural Concrete

May 18, 2021 | Tue 12:00 America/Chicago

Duration: 90 minutes

CE Credits: 1.5

$300

Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) plays an important role in the assessment of existing structures and quality assurance of new construction and repairs. This webinar will present the theory and practical applications of NDE methods used for the assessment of structural concrete and similar building materials, including methods to: assess in-place concrete strength; characterize reinforcing placement (location, cover, size); identify corrosion; and detect internal flaws (e.g. voids, cracks, etc.). The presentation will include various project examples in which nondestructive evaluation methods were successfully utilized for concrete assessment during structural evaluation, structural repair, research, and litigation support projects. Common applications for NDE that will be introduced during the selected project examples will include evaluating conformance (and nonconformance) with project specifications for new construction, identifying distress or material degradation in existing structures, collecting as-built details to aid in analysis and repair design, and evaluating completed repairs.

  • Course will award 1.5 hours of continuing education
  • This course is Diamond Review approved in 49 states. New York does not accept hours from recordings.
