Hear from Chad Larson and Jeff Greene of LeJeune Bolt Company as they tackle basic concepts, specifications, and bolted connections, along with installation methods, and best practices for proper fastener tension. The last session rounds out the series with discussions on supplementary requirements for fasteners, rotation capacity testing, inspection, lubrication, and a review of new standards. This web-based seminar will be delivered over four weeks in four 1.5-hour webinars by two of the industry’s best and brightest minds.

The registration fee for the Seminar is $495 for members ($800 for nonmembers), which includes all 6 hours of education. Each individual webinar can be purchased separately for $150 for members ($250 for nonmembers).

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Bolting Part 1: Bolting Background and Basic Concepts
This session will introduce the general terms and functional elements of structural fasteners. This session is intended to equip participants with a conversational understanding of physical and mechanical properties, including basic fastener behavior and terms.

Bolting Part 2: Organizations, Specifications, and Connections
This session will review responsible organizations and related key specifications. Review of common connection types for bolted steel connections. An explanation will be given regarding how connection design relates to bolt selection and use. Design limit states such as shear and bearing and slip critical connections will be discussed. Practical suggestions to minimize the potential for bolt related problems will be presented.

Bolting Part 3: Ordering, Storing, Installing, and Inspecting
This session will focus on structural fastener installation methods. Recommendations on the best practices to achieve proper fastener tension will be given. The differences between just tight and tightened right, including inspection requirements for installation methods. The procedure for arbitration will be discussed for pretensioned and slip-critical joints.

Bolting Part 4: Supplementary Requirements, Rotational Capacity Testing, New Standards and Changes to Existing Standards
This session will provide an understanding of specific supplementary requirements for fasteners. Rotational capacity testing, inspection, and lubrication will be explained. A review of new standards and key changes to existing standards will be presented.
