Overview of Changes and Additions in ACI 318-19

This webinar will discuss technical changes made to design provisions in the 2019 edition of the ACI 318 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and will provide a brief overview of the reorganization of ACI 318 for the 2014 edition that carried over in the 2019 edition. The major changes include revised methods for determining one-way and two-way shear strength and provisions for strut-and-tie modeling based on recent research results, but many other minor changes have been included. The overall structure of the code will also be discussed, and the relationship of this structure to the 2011 version of the code will be described.

Speaker:

Royce Floyd, Ph.D., S.E., is an Associate Professor in the School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. He has ten years of experience in research relating to performance and strand bond behavior of prestressed members cast with self-consolidating concrete, lightweight self-consolidating concrete, and ultra-high performance concrete. He teaches courses on engineering mechanics, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and structural wood design at OU. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute, and American Concrete Institute and is a registered professional engineer in Oklahoma.
