The Sustainable Design Committee advances NCSEA’s vision by promoting sustainable design practices within the profession of structural engineering through leadership, advocacy, outreach, and education.
The Committee realizes this purpose through the following initiatives:
- Advocating for the inclusion of sustainable design within the practice of structural engineering
- Advocating for the role of the structural engineer in sustainable design
- Supporting the formation of sustainable design committees within individual Structural Engineers Associations and regularly correspond with those state-level committees
- Sharing/disseminating educational material, white papers, presentations, etc. created at the local level to all Structural Engineers Associations, as well as materials produced by complementary organizations
- Partnering with complementary organizations such as the SEI Sustainability Committee to share information, develop best practices, and coordinate activities
- Advocating for the structural engineering community with respect to policy and code development
